The boys are back on canvas, confronting their opposing ambitions. Nose to nose, eyeball to eyeball, but not in anger. Not in the New York Bronx or in Jean Genet’s – Our Lady of the Flowers – Montmartre, Paris. Two mannequins inspired this painting; they were in a shop window on Brick Lane in the East End of London. They were facing each other. They were thoughtful. ‘Let’s talk about this, Punk,’ I hear one say. ‘Pink ain’t so bad after all.’ ‘Yeah, right. Liverpool is playing at home, I got tickets. ‘ Different hairstyle, opposing thoughts – if there is a message, then it is ‘talking is better than fighting.’ ‘Don’t waste time, ‘Making my day, Punk.’ Hollywood’s Clint Eastwood would have a broad grin shining all over Los Angeles and the entire sunshine state of California. This painting is on loose, unstretched canvas, with the option to be hung as it is or stretched. The Pink Punks are just as happy hanging loose.
