Window mount

Also known as a mat, matt, matte, mount, window mount or passepartout.

A window mount is a sheet of material included within a picture frame that creates a decorative window around the artwork or print.

Inside cuts of a window mount are usually bevelled to avoid casting shadows on the artwork or print.

Importantly, a window mount creates a gap that separates the glazing from the surface of the artwork which can help prevent damage from condensation.

In addition, a window mount "frames" the image, can enhance its visual appeal and can also hold the artwork in place.

Our window mounts are usually Conservation grade FATG Mount Board Standard: Level 2.
